Today I embark on a cross country road trip. From Washington DC straight across the middle of the US to the San Francisco Bay. I’ve just flown into Washington DC and met up with my dear friend Susanne. Tomorrow we will hit the road, crossing 12 states in 9 days. Whew! We’ll cross through the lush Appalachians, visit historic villages, state parks, a print museum, a winery, and who knows what besides. We might try some Kentucky bourbon and some good-ole southen BBQ. I’ll be taking photos throughout the trip and will attempt to post daily so you can see what we’re up to. Feel free to leave a note and I’ll do my best to respond.
Tomorrow, we start out from Fredericksburg, Virginia. Driving westward, we might head to George Washington State Park and check out a spot called Crabtree Falls that looks particularly enticing. Then we’ll continue on into West Virginia and the Blue Ridge mountain range, also known as the Appalachians. We’ll look for a place to stay somewhere around Beckley, a small town near the highway in the middle of the Appalachians and get some rest.
Happy Trails!
